Call: AI Art Gallery at IEEE/CVF Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition 2024

Call for Art Submissions

CVPR AI Art Gallery 2024
The IEEE/CVF Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition 2024
https://cvpr.thecvf.com/Conferences/2024/CallForAIArt

Deadline for art submissions: March 10, 2024

Computer vision techniques have long been used to make art, with tools such as GANs, Stable Diffusion and NeRF gaining popularity in recent years to create novel aesthetics, imagine new ways of seeing the world and investigate the potential of human-machine collaboration in the arts. Apart from that, artists have been looking critically into the workings and applications of object and facial recognition, producing works that highlight the limitations of the current state of technology, critique the machine’s view of the world and use the technology in unexpected ways.

At CVPR 2024, we will present a gallery of AI artworks in a dedicated space at the conference. We encourage submissions from anyone interested in AI art, whether you’re a computer vision researcher with visually engaging results or a professional artist.… read more. “Call: AI Art Gallery at IEEE/CVF Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition 2024”

Call: Participation in study on XR implementation in STEM education

[From a January 22, 2024 post in the Educause Extended Reality (XR) Community]

Research Study Seeking Participants – XR implementation in STEM education

My name is Bhargav Upadhyay. I am a Ph.D. student at Clemson University, South Carolina, USA, and my research focuses on using extended reality (XR) technologies for education and training. Our team at Clemson University is working on a National Science Foundation (NSF) project to explore using extended reality (XR – VR, AR , MR) technologies to support STEM technician education. I am contacting educators from technical colleges and universities to request an interview regarding their approach to implementing XR technologies for instruction. This research aims to investigate and analyze various instruction and training methods, resources, technology, and equipment used for teaching students that equip them to handle tasks that they might perform on the job. By examining the strategies employed by educational institutions, I seek to gain valuable insights into the practical implementation of XR technology as an instructional medium.… read more. “Call: Participation in study on XR implementation in STEM education”

The era of artificial intelligence and the merging of human and machine: New perspectives on humanistic and socio-pedagogical knowledge
September 19-21, 2024
Alghero, Italy
https://philevents.org/event/show/116685

Submission deadline: May 31, 2024

The speed of socio-cultural transformations resulting from the advent of the internet, social media and artificial intelligence together with the presence of growing economic interests around data traffic poses serious questions regarding the sustainability of these changes, which have and will have increasingly an impact on the development of cognitive, critical and participation skills in the public sphere of future generations. Alongside optimistic considerations on these technologies, which allow access to enormous quantities of data and communication almost without space-time boundaries, the dysfunctions linked to an uncritical use of the internet resource are increasingly evident. Artificial intelligence is able to process a mass of data that grows every day through the browsing of individual users (it is estimated that today the same mass of data is archived in two days that has been archived since the dawn of civilization to 2003, i.e.… read more. “Call: The era of AI and the merging of human and machine: New perspectives on humanistic and socio-pedagogical knowledge (conference)”

[Posted on the AI-SGES e-list on February 8, 2024]

Dear colleagues,

A team of global HRI researchers will be conducting a Delphi study to generate expert consensus on reporting human-robot interaction (HRI) user studies. This online study seeks to refine a checklist for conducting HRI studies, synthesized from academic publications, to enhance the standardization of reporting practices in the field. We are interested in recruiting HRI experts around the world to help us review and refine the checklist.

If you have been actively working in the field of HRI for over five years, we invite you to join the participant pool. If selected, you will be involved in two asynchronous online rounds (~30 minutes each), where you will fill out an anonymous survey to assess and refine the checklist.… read more. “Call: Delphi study about expert consensus on reporting human-robot interaction user studies”

Stories of/by/for the Field of Play Study
https://press.etc.cmu.edu/blog/Stories_of_by_for_the_Field_of_Play

Please help define and reflect on the field of play by participating in an exploratory qualitative study led by Drew Davidson at Carnegie Mellon University. You are invited to participate in a questionnaire to help explore the current state of the field around play, specifically in games and related areas (mixed reality, themed entertainment, tech, etc.). As such, this is less a focus on a discipline and more an exploration of the extensive ideas around play. Results will be published open access by ETC Press. We will share stories of/by/for this vast field of play in the global relationships amongst education institutions, industry companies, professional organizations, foundations, and government groups focused on the creative and entertainment technology industries.… read more. “Call: Stories of/by/for the Field of Play Study”
