Govee adds Dune-themed and other presence-evoking lighting effects to your entertainment center

[The short Gamespot story below describes the latest version of a presence-evoking product that extends the lighting on a television (or other) screen to the viewing environment. A press release from the manufacturer via PR Newswire provides more details, and Yanko Design has a detailed review that features many images and a 30 second video (also on YouTube). Here are a couple key quotes from the review:

“TV backlights were made to help better immerse you in the show or movie you’re watching by making sure that the light behind and around your TV reflects the content that’s on screen.”

“There are two new lighting effects, namely Arrakis and Spice, that will make you feel like you’re actually in that fictional world [of Dune: Part 2]. Even the app itself gets a Dune theme to match. But if you really want to be transported to Arrakis, Govee’s DreamView technology allows you to sync with other Govee lights in the room, bathing you in the warm orange glow of the planet’s environment.

From its fast responsive color-matching to its bright, vibrant colors, the Govee TV Backlight 3 Lite definitely delivers on its promises. It’s not a perfect solution, of course, at least not yet, but the company seems to be heading in the right direction. And with tons of customizable options, including those from the Dune: Part Two collab, the design definitely has a lot to offer, especially if you have other Govee lights in the room.”

“It’s actually astounding how a little change of light can affect the atmosphere in a room, even more so when you have a dazzling burst of color to match a mood. TV backlights are one of those things you never knew you needed until you actually try it out and realize how ‘dead’ even the most colorful TV can be without colorful lights shining behind and around it.”

Btw, at this writing, the lowest prices are on Govee‘s website. –Matthew]

We all know surround sound can enhance your home theater experience with immersive sound, but there are also devices out there that can increase visual immersion, such as the Govee TV Backlight 3 Lite, which adds dynamic LED backlighting to your setup.

If that sounds like something you’d like to try for yourself, the new Dune-themed version of the Govee TV Backlight 3 Lite is on sale for a limited at Amazon in celebration of Dune: Part Two, which just released in theaters this week. There are two models available, one for 55- to 65-inch TVs, and a larger version made for 75- to 85-inch TVs. Both models are $10 off when you select to coupon code on their Amazon store pages.

While there are multiple Govee devices that add backlight effects to your TV, the Govee TV Backlight 3 Lite features an enhanced processor and LEDs for better color accuracy and presentation. The device uses a strip of LED lights that attach to the back of your TV, and a small camera that balances at the top of the screen that scans what you’re watching and dynamically adjusts the LED light colors to match.

The devices support all TVs that fit the size range, and the effect works with movies, games, YouTube videos, or anything else you watch on your TV. There are also pre-made lighting options, including a new Dune-themed orange hue exclusive to these models, and you can manually control the backlight with the Govee Home App or via Alexa and Google voice commands.

Govee TV Backlight 3 Lite can sync up to seven additional Govee light accessories to expand the effect to other parts of your room, such as the Govee Floor Lamp, which also has a limited-time coupon deal that drops the price to just $90 (normally $150).
