Our call for speakers is open for Serious Play 2024, which will be held at the University of Toronto, Mississauga on August 12 – 14. Our game awards are also open, which include student categories.

A brief description:

For the past 18 years, the Serious Play Conference has established itself as a premier platform for discussing the impactful use of games and play in education, training, skill development, and knowledge dissemination. This unique conference brings together a community of scholars, experts, and practitioners from various sectors, all united by their interest in innovative game and play applications. Highlighting the latest in interactive play, simulations, gamification, game-based learning, immersive experiences, and research, the conference demonstrates how these tools can create effective learning environments and tackle complex issues.

Thank you for considering joining us at the Serious Play Conference as a speaker to help ignite the passion for the transformative power of games, play, and learning. We’re on the hunt for dynamic thought leaders, practitioners, and innovators across all fields and sectors to share case studies and ideas of how they are reshaping the world with ludic interventions. Share your journey – the triumphs, the setbacks, lessons learned, and everything in between – in developing, using, or implementing games and play.

We strive to present a spectrum of diverse voices and connect your work to the growing community who are implementing gameful strategies to transform education and training. Whether card games for kindergarten, VR simulations for healthcare training, kiosk games about water tables, a museum AR experience, or role-play for corporate training, we want to hear about it!

When possible, the best sessions are all about engagement and hands-on experiences, but we welcome diverse formats. We challenge you to turn your talk into an interactive adventure, a workshop, or a multimedia experience. You can also propose a lively panel, share exciting research, or debrief on the impact of an innovative approach. Tips, tricks, and tangible takeaways are always a hit with our audience.

The focus, however, should be on information, inspiration, and innovation, not selling a product. For product and service promotion, consider applying for a sponsored demo.

Final submission deadline is April 15, 2024. Speakers will be notified of acceptance no later than May 15, 2024.

Our speaking slots fill up quickly, with 90% of the agenda set months in advance. We accept applications on a rolling basis, but late submissions only make the cut in case of cancellations. Don’t miss this chance to be a part of our vibrant community!
