The rapid rise of artificial intelligence (AI) has revolutionized the way we interact, collaborate, and communicate. From AI as a tool, AI-mediated communication, and AI serving as a conversational partner, these advancements have reshaped communication landscapes across various levels and multiple contexts.

This themed issue of Review of Communication seeks to explore the multifaceted roles, uses, and implications of AI in communication. We invite studies that examine AI as a tool, mediator, or communication partner within communication processes, as well as its broader impacts on individuals, organizations, and society. We welcome both empirical research and theoretical essay across a wide range of interests, including but not limited to:

  • Theoretical frameworks for advancing the understanding of communication and theories in the age of AI.
  • AI as a communication partner and its influence on human interaction.
  • AI-driven tools and platforms shaping communication practices.
  • Review of AI research in communication: Synthesized knowledge and critical insights from past research, with directions for future trajectories.
  • Implications of AI in diverse communication contexts

SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS

Only full-length original articles will be considered. The word limit ins 9,000 words, inclusive of abstract, references, table, and figures. All manuscripts should be submitted via the journal’s online submission system. Authors should identify the themed call their paper is responding to by selecting the relevant drop-down option in the system.
