The Walt Disney Company uses multiple online and offline spaces to sell and showcase their products to audiences and consumers. From cable networks, streaming and games, to licensed merchandise and theme parks, music, film and art – Disney fans can engage with the global multimedia conglomerate in a range of ways. But what do these spaces and options mean for audiences and wider society? And what does that mean for the past, present and future of the company? What is Disney Culture, and what is its relationship with people all over the world?
This year’s annual Disney, Culture and Society Research Network conference asks for papers exploring how Disney has shaped their brand for themselves and audiences alike across the multimedia spaces they inhabit. How have Disney sold products, reached consumers and developed ‘Disney Culture’ in all its entities?

We are aware of the current state of the world when it comes to travelling for conferences: the financial precarity of scholars, the environmental harm, and the difficulties of procuring visas for international travel. We want to make this conference as accessible to as many different Disney scholars as possible, so this will be an online conference.
