Call for Chapters
Three companion books on Artificial Intelligence in Education: K-12, Higher Education, and Adult Training

Artificial intelligence (AI) permeates our 21st century lives. Artificial Intelligence in Education has been a field of scholarly study for the past 30 years (Luckin et al., 2016). Recently, there has been an increased scholarly interest in how AI can be used to extend and enhance education for students of all ages (Crompton & Song 2021). Indeed, with the release of ChatGPT, our awareness of AI capabilities has been heightened. With the rapid advances in AI capabilities, these three books answer an urgent call to better understand how AI is changing education.
This is a call for chapters for a companion set of three books on the topic of artificial intelligence (AI) and education. The three books are:
- Artificial Intelligence Applications in K-12: Theories, Ethics, and Case Studies for Schools
- Artificial Intelligence Applications in Higher Education: Theories, Ethics, and Case Studies for Universities
- Artificial Intelligence Applications in Adult Training: Theories, Ethics, and Case Studies for Workplaces
These books will focus on how AI is explicitly used within the learning/training context to support instructors in teaching or students in learning. The majority of the chapters will be case studies, but we are also looking for chapters to give an overview of the field and provide ethical considerations. The proposed book will provide a springboard for building better practices in schools, universities, and adult training.
The call is for contributions from across the globe. Chapters will undergo a blind peer-review process. The authors submitting chapters will each review no more than two chapters. Each book will have approximately 14 chapters with 4,500 words per chapter.
These books will be published by Routledge.
Submit a Proposal: Chapter proposals should be a 500-word summary to be submitted to the editors by 1st August 2023. Acceptances will be sent shortly after this date and authors will then have until 1st November, 2023 to submit the full chapter. Please contact the editors with any questions.
