POSITION:

Postdoctoral Research, starting Fall 2021.

SETTING:

Michigan State University (MSU), located in East Lansing, is the nation’s pioneer land-grant institution. This research team is housed within MSU’s world renowned College of Communication Arts and Sciences.

PRIMARY ACTIVITIES:

You will be joining a research team that is developing and testing a theoretical framework for the use and practice of trustworthy and compassionate Artificial Intelligence (AI) in human communication and decision-making. We seek to publish in Human Computer Interaction journals and computer science conferences. There are also opportunities for applicants to lead projects and be a member of an interdisciplinary team with researchers in the communication and computer science. The ideal candidate would share our research interests in artificial intelligence, machine learning, human communication, human-robot interaction, and algorithm supported decision-making.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants must be well trained in statistical analysis with knowledge of experimental design and hypothesis testing in communication, cognitive science, and psychology. Preference will be given to individuals with expertise in artificial intelligence and its implication on human communication. The position is open to graduating Ph.D. students in communication, HCI, CMC, computer science, or a related discipline. Current postdoctoral fellows with postdoctoral experience can apply.

SALARY & BENEFITS:

Salary is commensurate with post-doctoral experience.

DURATION:

Appointments are initially for one year. The positions may be extended for an additional year based on performance and funding availability.
