JOB DESCRIPTION:

TUT is seeking to fill 5 postdoctoral fellowship positions with promising researchers who are in the beginning of their career. The aim is to support highly qualified postdoctoral researchers who are outstanding in their field and to strengthen the scientific profile of TUT.

The research tasks will be specified to suit the candidate’s interests and expertise. The research work will be conducted in one of the existing research groups at TUT [see below for details on one of the positions, focused on Game/Gamification research]. REQUIREMENTS:

The call is open to Postdoctoral Researchers who

  • hold an applicable doctoral degree (the dissertation must be submitted and proof must be available by 1 March 2017.)
  • have completed their doctoral degree no longer than 4 years prior to the deadline (degree certificate issued 22.1.2013–1.3.2017; for applicants with children, 1 year per child will be added to the permitted duration).

We are particularly interested in candidates with significant international research experience during recent years. The applicant should be able to plan and conduct research work independently.

SALARY:

The salary will be based on both the job demands and the employee’s personal performance in accordance with the University Salary System. According to the criteria applied to teaching and research staff the position of a Postdoctoral Researcher is placed on the job demands level 5, meaning a salary in the range of 2,900–4,100 euros/month, depending on experience and performance.

TRIAL PERIOD:

Trial period of 4 months applies.

OTHER:

The position is filled from the beginning of March 2017 or as soon as possible. The duration of the contract will be two years.

There are no restrictions regarding the applicants’ academic disciplinary background or preferred methods as long as the research plan is convincing and in synergy with the applicant’s prior experience (especially with regard to game and/or gamification research). As is clear from the profile and strategy of Tampere University of Technology, beyond academic ambition, research plan should indicate the potential impact of research on society and industry.
