CASA| Computer As Social Actor
http://casa-workshop2013.blogspot.com
August, 28th Edinburgh, Scotland, UK
Satellite event of the 13th International Conference on Intelligent Virtual Agents (IVA 2013)

We invite all researchers that focus their research on Artificial Intelligence and Human Computer Interaction to participate in this workshop and to share their views on the development of technological components, design methodologies, and the adoption of CASA solutions and services. By discussing different approaches to human-machine and human-human interaction technologies we aim at investigating the social abilities of technologies and we attempt to define the concept of Social Actorship.

The CASA Workshop will focus on three main areas of investigation: theory, practice and market. Particular attention will be devoted to papers reporting on running systems which have been used by final users, in real-life contexts, and with market implications.

Topics of interest:

  • Theoretical aspects of CASA related to other fields of research (AI, Interaction Design,…)
  • Design and evaluation of technology for CASA
  • Demonstration of CASA systems
  • Ethical issues related to CASA systems
  • Applications for the market and relevant indications for companies
  • Definition of social aspects related to technology
