Call: Second International Workshop on Ambient Information Technologies (AMBIT 2013)

Call for Papers

The Second International Workshop
on Ambient Information Technologies (AMBIT 2013)
http://www-human.ist.osaka-u.ac.jp/ambit2013/

in conjunction with
IEEE Virtual Reality 2013 (IEEE VR 2013)
http://conferences.computer.org/vr/2013/

March 16 (Sat), 2013
Orlando, FL, USA

AIM AND SCOPE

In [a] VR environment, users are surrounded with various kinds of devises such as sensors, displays, actuators, etc. The integration with these devises and analyzing [the] acquired data lead [to] new techniques and technologies that could offer users various comfortable computer-supported environments. As one of such environments, ambient information technologies have attempted to offer users to unconsciously access useful information with various kinds of displays according to users’ situation acquired by sensors.

This workshop is expected to make a bridge between ambient information technologies and VR technologies, in which there remains many open issues in their integration. The current VR technologies [are] expected to enhance ambient information technologies, and vise versa. For instance, three-dimensional user interfaces based on VR technologies should be effective for enhancing users’ context recognition in ambient information technologies.

Following the success of the first event in 2012, the second workshop on Ambient Information Technologies (AMBIT 2013) is aimed at bringing together researchers who develop any devices (sensors, displays, actuators, etc.) used in VR environments and applications that utilize these cultivated devices and integrate acquired data with information to be displayed.

We hope that this workshop will give helpful hints for the design, operation and applications of the ambient information environment with VR technologies.

PAPER SUBMISSION INSTRUCTION

Authors are invited to submit manuscripts reporting original unpublished research and recent developments in the topics related to the workshop. This workshop has two submission categories: oral and poster. The length of the oral papers should not exceed 4 pages (IEEE Computer Society Proceedings Manuscripts style: two columns, single-spaced), including figures and references, using 10 fonts, and number each page. The length of the poster papers should not exceed 2 pages.

Please visit http://www.computer.org/portal/web/cscps/formatting for detailed paper formatting instructions. Camera ready papers in PDF format should be submitted electronically to

ambit2013-submit@hi-mail.ise.eng.osaka-u.ac.jp

as well as the contacting information and your preferred choice of the submission category (oral/poster).

All papers will be peer reviewed and the comments will be provided to the authors. Accepted papers will be published either on-line or by IEEE Computer Society Press.

Papers submitted to the oral category might be accepted as poster papers. Authors of accepted poster papers are allowed to exhbit their research demonstrations alongside their posters.
