In the context of the 15th “Long Night of Video Games” at Leipzig University of Applied Sciences (HTWK Leipzig), we call for submissions for the scientific symposium “Science MashUp 2021”. The “Science MashUp 2021: XR – Society – Utopias” will take place on Saturday, April 24, 2021, from 4 to 7 p.m. at HTWK Leipzig, probably as a virtual conference with screencasts and online interactions.
The conference format is a mashup of classical lectures of a maximum length of 10 minutes or a visualized contribution in the style of Pecha Kucha (20 images – 20 seconds in six minutes). Scientific contributions are welcome that highlight both current and potentially future utopian and dystopian developments in the fields of policy, society, culture, and the environment with current (or future) digitally augmented realities.
Exemplary topics could be:
- Social critique of and with computer games
- Trends in the technology of computer games such as interaction, graphics, VR/ER, logic, algorithms
- Utopian social designs in and with computer games
- Educational games and edutainment with a direct reference to the fields of politics, society, culture or environment
- artistic realizations by means of digitally augmented realities (VR/XR)
- the analysis as well as the effect of corresponding offers
Contributions that refer to non-commercial or experimental implementations are explicitly desired!
It is planned to publish the conference proceedings in the series “Leipziger Beiträge zur Computerspielekultur” at Springer VS (https://www.springer.com/de/book/9783658316259). Organizational details for chapter contributions (length, citation style, scheduling) will follow.
