Journal of Sound and Music

The Society for the Study for Sound and Music in Games has launched the “Journal of Sound and Music in Games” beginning this year in collaboration with University of California Press, and we are excited to present the first three issues for free:

Issue 1: https://online.ucpress.edu/jsmg/issue/1/1
Issue 2: https://online.ucpress.edu/jsmg/issue/1/2
Issue 3: https://online.ucpress.edu/jsmg/issue/1/3

JSMG is a peer-reviewed journal that presents high-quality research concerning all areas of music and/or sound in games. While the core audience is game music scholars (mostly with a background in ludomusicology and musicology), the interdisciplinary nature of the field means that the journal also highly encourages submissions from authors who identify primarily with other fields (such as game studies, computer science, educational science, performance studies, philosophy, psychology etc.), as well as practitioners (game music composers, sound designers etc.). While JSMG primarily focuses on video games, we also welcome studies of music and/or sound in any form of game (for example, sports, historical games predating video games, and so on).

Therefore, we would be delighted to see more contributions from this broader range of perspectives, so please feel free to submit your proposal or forward this message to friends, colleagues, and students, who might be interested in doing so.

Additional information including all instructions on how to submit can be found on our Society-page: https://www.sssmg.org/wp/jsmg/

In case you have any enquiries, please feel free to get in touch with me or directly with the editorial office via jsmg@sssmg.org.

Best wishes,

Melanie
