Topic: GAMESPACE AWARENESS
Dear All,
My name is Miguel A. Teruel, researcher involved in the development of Gamespace Awareness (GA). Since you are a professional on the game development field, we would like you to participate in a survey aimed at evaluating and improving our proposal.
In a collaborative multiplayer game, users need real-time information about the other players (e.g. what are they doing, where are they, what capabilities do they have). In other words, players must be provided with awareness of other users (both allies and enemies) and the game’s environment.
GA is a collection of awareness elements aimed at help game designers and developers to identify, from the very beginning, those awareness requirements that a collaborative computer game must feature. Therefore, the goal of our survey is to assess whether GA is detailed enough to cover all the awareness needs of such games.
The evaluation consist in two stages:
- Assessment and enrichment of the GA elements related to present, past or future awareness needs, as well as social and group dynamics aspects.
- Development of a methodological framework to define which GA elements a new game must feature depending on its genre.
By filling in the GA survey, you / your company will get:
- Early access to the results
- The whole framework to use it in your game projects
- Involvement in a multinational Software Engineering project lead by the University of Castilla – La Mancha and the Vrije University of Amsterdam
