We welcome high quality papers that describe original and unpublished research advancing the state of the art in smart surroundings, context-awareness and networked embedded sensor and actuator systems, including but not limited to the following topics:

— Distributed smart sensing and context recognition

  • Smart sensing: sensors inferring context and context-aware sensing
  • Context-aware surroundings and infrastructures
  • Distributed objects and wearables inferring context
  • Algorithms and architectures for scalable context recognition
  • Quality of Context (context uncertainty, unreliable sensing)

— Context processing

  • Context reasoning, fusion, transformation, inference
  • Context processing given Quality of Context
  • Scalable context management and processing architectures
  • Information aspects of context-aware sensor&actuator systems

— Context-aware actuators, interaction methods, and human aspects

  • Principles and methods for context-aware actuation and feedback
  • Distributed context-aware actuators
  • Interaction with context-aware objects, wearables and proactive interfaces
  • Quality of Actuation
  • Symbiosis between autonomic context-aware sensor&actuator systems and users
  • Social implications, user-controlled privacy, securing context

— Applications, deployment, test beds and case studies

  • Wearable computing and pervasive computing applications
  • Real-world experiences with deployed systems
  • Applications and case studies related to smart surroundings & intelligent objects
  • Integration with the Internet of the Future
  • Development tools, deployment principles, and life-cycle support

— Opportunistic information and context processing

  • Methods for opportunistic use of sensors for context awareness
  • Context recognition given opportunistic sensing
  • Principles, approaches and architectures
  • Test-beds, evaluation methods and demonstrators for opportunistic systems

Posters

Posters are solicited that present recent and on-going research by students. The poster submissions should include a 2-page (LNCS format) description of the student’s research. Accepted posters will be printed in the adjunct conference proceedings, which carry an own ISBN number. The poster will be presented at the conference poster and demonstration session.

Demonstrations

Proposals for research demonstrations are solicited. Demonstration description should not exceed 3 pages (LNCS format) and should include a description of the demonstration and equipment to be used. Demonstration abstracts will be published in the adjunct conference proceedings with an own ISBN number.

Best regards,

The EuroSSC 2010 organization committee
