Job: Research Assistant to manage Stanford’s Virtual Human Interaction Lab (VHIL)

The Communication Department at Stanford University is looking for a full-time Research Assistant to manage the Virtual Human Interaction Lab (VHIL). This is a one-year fixed term position with possibility of renewal. The lab manager will be responsible for overseeing software and hardware issues surrounding the VHIL lab, organizing lab meetings and work schedules of other lab members, and running frequent lab tours for visiting guests. The lab manager will report to the Director of the VHIL Lab (see http://vhil.stanford.edu/).

Qualifications: Applicant must have some experience in computer programming (experience in Python a plus but not necessary) and must be familiar with hardware setups, for example opening up a PC desktop box in order to switch out a video card and the ability to mount cameras using a screwdriver. In addition, applicants should have some experience in public speaking as they will be giving frequent tours of the lab. Other desirable skills but not required: experience using computer graphic software such as 3DS Max, virtual reality setups either in tracking or rendering, retrospect backup software, or machine learning algorithms. PhD desirable.
