The Midwest Popular Culture Association / American Culture Association is a regional branch of the Popular Culture Association / American Culture Association. MPCA/ACA usually holds its annual conference in a large Midwestern city in the United States. Anyone is welcome to join and submit proposals for consideration at the MPCA/ACA conference. View our Subject Areas page for more information about topics covered at our conferences.

FOR MPCA/MACA NEW MEDIA TOPIC AREA

Topics can include, but are not limited to, new media texts and technologies, production methods, communication, and trends in new media.

Please upload 250-word abstract proposals on any aspect of New Media to the New Media area, https://www.mpcaaca.org/submit-panels. Include name, affiliation, and e-mail address of each author/participant. Please note that you can only submit one proposal to the conference and only in one area.

Panel Submissions: If you are submitting an entire panel, each presenter must add an abstract. In addition, it would be very helpful if one presenter can email the area chair with the name of the panel, the presenters, and their email addresses.

New this year: Virtual Panels will be running concurrently with in-person panels. No in-person panels will be offered virtually, but all who register will have access to the virtual panels. Please indicate when submitting if you prefer to deliver your presentation in-person, virtually, or no preference. Virtual panels are available on a first-come, first-served basis. (Zoom is the planned platform and panels will be scheduled in Central Time Zone.) If you have any questions about virtual panels, please email president@mpcaaca.org.

Graduate students are invited to apply for competitively awarded MPCA/MACA travel grants at Awards & Travel Grants | Midwest Popular Cult (mpcaaca.org).

Notes Regarding Proposal Submissions: (1) AV equipment will be provided. The Association does not provide laptops, cords, or speakers. (2) If necessary, indicate and submit potential scheduling conflicts along with your proposal. (3) If you wish your presentation to be listed as MACA (rather than MPCA), please include this request with your proposal.
