Submission deadline: July 31, 2023

SCOPE

Don’t be superstitious about thirteen!

The number 13 may be an unlucky number for some, but it is the time that our divine conference Videojogos will also occur. Welcome to the 13th International Conference on Videogame Sciences and Arts. This year’s event takes place at the University of Aveiro from November 28-30, 2023. It is organized by the Department of Communication and Art of the University of Aveiro, DigiMedia research centre, jointly with the Portuguese Society of Video Games Sciences (SPCV). The event counts with the presence of the Association of Portuguese Videogame Producers (APVP), and Association of Videogame Producers and Distributors (AEPDV) with their program #saberjogar.

The annual conferences of the SPCV aim to gather the scientific community and practitioners in videogames.

It is worth remembering that these conferences are usually attended by researchers and professionals in the expanded field of videogames — Multimedia, Communication, Technology, Education, Psychology, and Arts — to disseminate work and exchange experiences between the academic community and the industry.

This year, the 2nd Seminar on Videogame Teaching also came to the University of Aveiro and will occur as a pre-conference event of the conference Videojogos’23. In this event, the community of teachers of game design, development, evaluation, and related stakeholders share their practices and pave the way into the quality of professional training in the area.

Are you an enterprise or an indie developer? Don’t be overwhelmed by the scientific nature of this conference. There is space for you. Show us your game(s), or/and propose a workshop.

Are you a gamer? Don’t say that you are an eSport champion? A streamer? Are you a game journalist or/and reviewer of games? There are many ways to participate in this conference! Please drop us a line to spcvideojogos.xp@gmail.com.
