Tenure-Track Assistant Professor Position in Video Game Narrative
Department of English
University of Utah
Salt Lake City, UT

Application deadline: November 1, 2022

My friends over in the English department have asked me to share this with you. The TL;DR is that they’re hiring someone specializing in video game narrative. I’m happy to chat with anyone curious about working/living in Utah and I can also say that the unit I’m in (Entertainment Arts & Engineering) does collaborate with the English department – and that this position would (ideally) strengthen those collaborations. While I cannot speak to any of the specific details of the job, I can put you in touch with the right people. So do reach out if you’re interested!

The Department of English invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of English specializing in Video Game Narrative, beginning July 1, 2023. The appointee will join a growing interdisciplinary group of researchers engaged in collaborative work on video game narrative and Digital Humanities. Expertise in video game narrative and game studies, evidence of excellence in research, a clear commitment to undergraduate education, and the promise of outstanding teaching at the graduate level are required. Applicants should have a strong scholarly profile in criticism and/or theory as applied to video game narratives. In line with the University of Utah’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, we are particularly interested in scholars with a strong secondary or complementary interest in theories of gender and sexuality, race and ethnicity, and/or disability studies.

Please submit an application letter; c.v.; writing sample; statement of commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion; and 3 letters of recommendation by 1 November 2022.
