Call: Session proposals for Social Simulation FesT 2022

Call for Session Proposals

Social Simulation FesT 2022
Online
May 3, 10, 17 and 25, 2022

Submission deadline: January 17, 2022

Each SocSimFesT day we imagine having 3 sessions and an inspirational talk (please observe: no parallel sessions). Each session will be 1.5 hours in duration, in which the session organisers are responsible for arranging the content of the session. The sessions will be on Zoom and take place on the first 4 Tuesdays of May 2022.

To propose a session, please write a max. 300 words/2000 characters description of your session, whilst making clear the following (not included in the 2000 characters/300 words):

A. Session timing preference (relative to Central European Time):

  • morning or afternoon
  • indicate if a date (3,10,17 or 25 May) is not possible

B. Session type: what kind of session do you want to organise. We prefer unconventional formats, encouraging discussions rather than predominantly listening to talks. Select one of the following options:

  • Tutorials and demonstrations: guided usage of a software tool or model that participants in your session will download and try.
  • Introductions to social simulation: outreach on social simulation tailored to disciplines and research areas.
  • Seminar: focused group discussion on a particular topic with one presentation introducing it, and extended Q&A afterwards.
  • Workshop: facilitated group discussion using online workshop tools and breakout groups.
  • Other interactive formats…

C. A brief description of how your sessions will enable participants to engage and feel included as well as how you envision taking advantage of the opportunities offered by the online format.

Please submit your proposal using this form: https://forms.gle/JYzkeu4TqtNibNhF8

We are also testing to have themes for some of the days. We selected validation as a theme for one of the days and as a usual discussion item at many social simulation paper presentations, we also selected tools as a theme. Feel free to connect your proposal to any of these themes.

IMPORTANT DATES:

17 Jan 2022 @ 12.00 AM CET (noon): Deadline submission of proposals
