We would like to invite you to a demonstration and workshop on an exciting piece of new technology ‘Desktop Augmented Reality (AR)’ by Perception Holo-SDK.

ABOUT THE EVENT:

This session will demonstrate Desktop Augmented Reality (AR) technology and invite participants to reflect and evaluate the use of this technology in galleries, libraries, archives, and museums (GLAMs). Developed by Perception Holo-SDK, desktop AR enables viewers to enjoy two-dimensional computer visuals in three-dimensions and so offers a more immersive experience of our computer’s digital environment. This offers an exciting opportunity for both digital and physical exhibitions and museums such as the Imperial War Museums and the Science Museum Group are set to develop new holographic experiences with Perception Holo-SDK.

This workshop aims to both evaluate and showcase the technology to the wider GLAM sector and we want to consider other future opportunities for this emerging technology.

AGENDA

This workshop is split into two parts. In the first section, there will be a demonstration of the technology and participants will be given the opportunity to experience the technology with an example holographic exhibition. The second section to this workshop invites participants to reflect on their experience of the technology in relation to different themes including (but not limited to):

  • Audiences
  • Accessibility
  • Education
  • Visitor Experience

This workshop is aimed at GLAM practitioners and workers, but we also welcome researchers and artists who may also be interested in learning more about this technology. You do not need to have any prior experience of AR/VR in order to participate.

Please note that participants will be sent a pair of 3D glasses before the session so that they can enjoy the full experience of the technology. A zoom link will also be sent out to all registrants.
