Call: Participants needed for remote study in VR

Participants needed (a remote study in VR)

Researchers at the University of Manchester, the BBC R&D, and the University of Glasgow are recruiting participants to partake in a study that aims to understand how viewers engage with novel media content.

The study will take less than 60 minutes. No face-to-face contact is required. The study will take place over Zoom video conferencing software (https://zoom.us).

To participate, you will need to have an HTC Vive VR head-mounted display (HMD), a Vive controller and a second device (e.g. another laptop, or a smartphone) to run Zoom.

A researcher will guide you throughout the study. You will watch six snippets of a nature documentary TV show (36 seconds each) on your VR HMD and orally rate questionnaire items after each clip. There will be a recorded semi-structured interview after the final clip.

To participate you need headphones (earbuds are OK), a Vive VR HMD, and a Vive controller. You should also:

  • Be aged 18 or above
  • Be a fluent or native English speaker
  • Have normal/corrected to normal vision
  • Have no clinical hearing loss

On completion of the session, you will receive an Amazon voucher as a token of our appreciation.

Please contact pejman.saeghe@manchester.ac.uk for further information about taking part.
