Application deadline: 4th May 2020

The TU Dresden Immersive Experience Lab (ixlab.io) conducts interdisciplinary research into the perceptual foundations, applications and implications of immersive media – media in which virtual and remote people, objects, events or worlds are experienced, in some way, as real and present. Our work combines elements of perceptual and cognitive science, computer science and engineering, philosophy, phenomenology and art and design.

We currently have 2 openings for research associates (PhD candidates or Postdocs).

We are seeking talented scientists, engineers and artists to join us in the creation of experimental and creative immersive experiences and applications. Working in an interdisciplinary team, you will create immersive experiences and experiments using state-of-the-art multi-user virtual and augmented reality systems.

The positions offer the opportunity to conduct innovative research in the field of immersive media. This may range from perceptual and cognitive studies, to the research and development of novel applications or artistic creations. With the opportunity to publish academically, present at conferences and supervise students, the positions are well suited for PhD and postdoc candidates.

We welcome applications from candidates from a variety of backgrounds:

  • Computer scientists or software engineers with expertise in virtual or augmented reality, real-time 3D graphics, embodied interfaces, immersive audio, procedural and generative systems or real-time simulation.
  • Perceptual or cognitive scientists with a background in multi-sensory perception, practical and perceptual phenomenology, embodiment and self-perception, phenomenal realness, predictive processing, or related topics.
  • Digital artists with skills in 3D modeling, rigging and animation, simulation or vfx skills.
