This one-day workshop aims to bring researchers and industry professionals from different disciplines together to promote interdisciplinary exchange, to increase awareness, and to establish a community and collaborations how technology and Human-Computer Interaction can help to transform the act of spectating games and particularly esports from a merely passive (watching) to a more active – and engaging – experience. Submissions are invited on, but not limited to, the following topics.

TOPICS

Submissions are invited on, but not limited to, the following topics:

  • User requirement analysis for improving spectator experiences
  • Design concepts to increase audience participation
  • Use cases that describe spectator experiences in practice
  • Evaluation methods for assessing spectator experience
  • User studies on spectatorship
  • Studies on streamer-audience interaction dynamics, toxic behaviour, or harassment
  • Data visualizations and dashboards that support spectatorship
  • Spectator analytics
  • Social and community aspects of streaming
  • Technological solutions for empowering viewers (AR, VR, wearables, etc.)
  • Solutions that aid shoutcasters in commenting live broadcasts
  • Prediction of in-game events and outcomes

11 February 2020: Submission deadline
28 February 2020: Acceptance notification
25 April 2020: Workshop day

SUBMISSIONS

Authors are invited to submit a 2- to 4-page position paper in the CHI Extended Abstract format or a slide deck consisting of 5 slides (only recommended for industry participants). on or before February 11th, 2020 via EasyChair at https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=seegames20

Each submission will be peer-reviewed by at least two of the workshop organizers (and, if required, additional experts). Submissions will be selected based on quality and relevance to the workshop themes.

At least one author must attend the workshop and all participants must register for both the workshop and for at least one day of the conference.
