‘VRTGO 2015′ UK Conference to Usher in Consumer VR on November 12th

By Paul James – Jul 16, 2015

One of Europe’s premiere industry VR conferences, VRTGO, is back on November 12th and, like last year, the event promises appearances from some big industry names and a greater emphasis on commercial virtual reality.

The north of England isn’t the first place you’d pick should you be asked to identify a UK hotbed of VR activity, yet VRTGO 2014 proved just how wrong that misconception was when the inaugural event came to Gateshead last year. The event was packed with local VR developer talent as well as big names like Sony, CCP Games and nDreams.

VRTGO 2015 returns to the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art again this year and organisers are excited about their building line up of speakers. “We will see more diversity of attendees as buyers look to see how VR can improve their business. We are thrilled to be working on this exciting event again this year.” said Carri Cunliffe of Secret Sauce.

VRTGO this year will feature companies such as Microsoft, CCP Games (whose VR flagship title EVE: Valkyrie is developed locally), nDreams, Coatsink, Crossrail, Atomhawk, Hammerhead, Spearhead Interactive and more.

As virtual reality rapidly approaches commercial reality, with all major VR hardware vendors shipping products in the next 12 months (the first, HTC Vive, rumoured to be November), VRTGO is looking to provide a greater emphasis on commerciality at the show – encouraging industry buyers to attend break-outs and mix with attendees.

Patrick O’Luanaigh, CEO of nDreams said, “We spoke at the inaugural event last year, and were hugely impressed by the professionalism, speaker quality and general feeling of excitement. This year’s event should be bigger and better, and we’re looking forward to sharing the lessons that we have learnt releasing titles on the Gear VR and developing launch games for the Morpheus, Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.”

Will Freeman, MC at last years VRTGO event, returns in 2015. Freeman, is a freelance games journalist and Contributing Editor of industry magazine and website Develop – he’s also a big fan of VR.

We’ll have more news on VRTGO soon, in the mean time you can grab discounted early bird tickets right here.
