The School of Humanities and Informatics is looking for a Professor in Media Arts, Aesthetics and Narration

The position refers to the area of Media Arts, Aesthetics and Narration, which at the University of Skövde is defined as studies of the technical, cultural and social forms and expressions of new media. The focus is on how the forms and expressions of the media are produced, distributed and consumed, and how narration and aesthetics are given expression and are influenced by technology.
In the research team Technology and Environments in New Media, research is carried out in areas such as narration in different media forms in a contemporary as well as a historical perspective, game development, game study, cultural heritage and game technology, and sound- and image narration. We particularly welcome applicants, whose research has clear connections to at least two of these research fields.
The position includes research and teaching within the subject area. Additional assignments might be included in the position.
The qualification requirements are:
- proven pedagogical proficiency
- proven scientific proficiency in Media Arts, Aesthetics and Narration.
In addition to the qualification requirements, the bases of evaluation for this position are:
- The degree of proficiency that is required for the employment (see qualification requirements).
- The degree of scientific independence.
- Documented good ability as a leader, for example in the implementation of research projects.
- The quality and relevant specialization of the plan for future research.
- Documented experience in successful research supervision.
- Documented experience of participation in university education at all levels.
- Documented experience of applying for and obtaining external research funding.
- Documented experience as faculty opponent, member of examination boards, expert evaluator in academic recruitments, peer reviewer etc.
- Documented experience of and ability to participate in managerial-, strategic- and committee work at departmental and university levels.
- Documented experience of and ability to collaborate across traditional disciplines within and outside the University.
- Documented good ability to collaborate.
For this position special emphasis will be placed upon proven scientific proficiency in Media Arts, Aesthetics and Narration, the quality and relevant specialization of the plan for future research as well as documented experience of applying for and obtaining external research funding.
