The Computer Graphics Design program offers a BFA in 3D Digital Graphics. The program enrolls approximately 70 students. A combination of full-time and adjunct faculty contribute a range of professional interests and expertise. In a professional studio setting, students work to develop game levels, virtual worlds, digital characters, visualization, simulations, motion graphics, and more, working in 3D digital graphics software.

The 3D Digital Graphics program is seeking applicants to teach primarily 3D digital graphics courses within a design curriculum, but expertise in other graphics software is important as well. The courses focus on 3D digital skills as they relate to 3D digital design. Utilizing research, critical thinking, creativity, and a range of problem solving principles. Students learn to solve complex visual problems within the constraints of time, space, budget, and technology. In addition to a full teaching load, other responsibilities include advising students, assisting in curriculum development, participating in research, scholarship and creative activity, and providing service to the institute, college, and department.

The candidate will teach primarily in the BFA program but may also have opportunity to teach in a MFA program and sit on MFA thesis committees.

Salary commensurate with applicant’s qualifications and experience

Required Qualifications

  • MFA degree in design field that includes graphic design, game art and design, virtual world design, interactive media design, motion graphics, or visual communications
  • Minimum two years of professional experience
  • Strong design, imaging, interactive media, and 3D graphics skills
  • Proficiency Maya 3D software and in some of the following: Motion Builder, After Effects, Final Cut Pro, Flash, game engines, Renderman, Adobe Creative Suite, MEL, Python, Mud Box
  • Competence in planning and organizing principles and strategies for developing creative and innovative projects using 3D software

Preferred Qualifications

  • Teaching experience on the college level
  • Strong background in concept development and creative problem solving
  • Progressive and proactive approach to teaching and learning 3D digital graphics
