We invite you to contribute to AI & Society: Shaping a Responsible Future, a local meetup of the FAccT community centered around the critical societal impacts of Artificial Intelligence. This event aims to foster discussion, share insights, and present cutting-edge research on the ethical, social, and technical challenges and opportunities presented by AI technologies. We welcome submissions from researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and community members interested in shaping a responsible AI future.
This meetup provides a valuable platform to present your work, engage with the local FAccT community, and discuss the pressing issues surrounding AI. We particularly encourage submissions that explore the real-world consequences of AI systems on individuals and society. Furthermore, we warmly welcome submissions from the FAccT community, including papers that were not accepted by the main FAccT 2025 conference, offering an alternative venue for impactful work.
POTENTIAL TOPICS:
We welcome submissions across all areas of Artificial Intelligence, with a particular emphasis on the following potential topics:
- Fairness, Accountability, and Transparency (FAccT) of AI systems
- Bias detection and mitigation in AI models and data
- Explainable AI (XAI) and interpretable machine learning
- Trust and human-AI interaction
- User perceptions and understanding of AI systems
- The societal impact of recommender systems
- Ethical considerations in AI chatbot and smart AI assistant design and deployment
- AI and its impact on labor, education, healthcare, and other societal domains
- The role of AI in shaping public discourse and democracy
- Privacy and security implications of AI technologies
- Legal and regulatory frameworks for AI governance
- Participatory and inclusive approaches to AI development
- AI for social good and addressing societal challenges
- Case studies and real-world deployments of AI with societal implications
- Methods for evaluating the societal impact of AI systems
- The future of AI and its long-term societal consequences
SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS:
Authors are invited to submit original, anonymized research papers. All submissions must be in PDF format and adhere to the ACM format. Please submit your paper through the EasyChair system: https://easychair.org/conferences?conf=ais25
We invite submissions of original research contributions for presentation at the conference. Authors are invited to submit their work in one of the following categories:
Full Papers:
- These submissions should present mature and complete research work with significant findings.
- The maximum length for full paper submissions is 14 pages, excluding all figures, tables, and references.
- Accepted full papers will be considered for oral presentation slots in the conference program.
Extended Abstracts:
- Extended abstracts should outline ongoing research, preliminary results, or novel ideas that are not yet ready for a full paper submission.
- The maximum length for extended abstract submissions is 4 pages, excluding any figures, tables, and a brief list of key references.
- Accepted extended abstracts will be scheduled for either a short oral presentation or a poster session, depending on the program structure and the number of submissions received. Authors will be notified of the presentation format in their acceptance notification.
General Submission Instructions:
- All submissions must be written in English.
- Submissions must be made electronically through the conference submission system, accessible at https://easychair.org/conferences?conf=ais25.
- Authors are required to create an account and follow the instructions provided on the submission system.
- Please ensure that all author information (names, affiliations, email addresses) is accurate and complete at the time of submission.
- Indicate the desired paper category (Full Paper or Extended Abstract) during the submission process.
- By submitting your work, you confirm that the content is original and has not been previously published or is currently under review elsewhere.
- At least one author of each accepted paper/abstract must register for the conference and present the work.
To ensure a fair and unbiased review process, all submissions must be anonymized. Please remove all author names and affiliations from the paper, and avoid any acknowledgments or other identifying information within the manuscript. References to your own prior work should be made in the third person (e.g., “As shown in [Author’s Previous Work]…”).
Anonymity Policy:
All submissions will undergo a double-blind review process. Authors are responsible for ensuring the anonymity of their submissions. This includes:
- Removing all author names and affiliations from the title page and throughout the paper.
- Avoiding explicit self-references that would reveal your identity (e.g., “In our previous work [citation], we showed…”). Instead, use third-person phrasing (e.g., “The work by [Author’s Previous Work] showed…”).
- Anonymizing file names and document properties.
- Being mindful of information that could indirectly reveal your identity if making source code or data publicly available.
Submissions that violate the anonymity policy may be rejected without review.
