Conference theme: Human-Robot Collaboration and Human Assistance for an Improved Quality of Life

The 26th IEEE International Symposium on Robot and Human Interactive Communication, RO-MAN 2017, will be held in Lisbon, Portugal, from August 28 to September 1, 2017. This symposium is a leading forum where state-of-the-art innovative results, the latest developments as well as future perspectives relating to robot and human interactive communication are presented and discussed.

The conference covers a wide range of topics related to Robot and Human Interactive Communication, involving theories, methodologies, technologies, empirical and experimental studies. Papers related to the study of the robotic technology, psychology, cognitive science, artificial intelligence, human factors, interaction-based robot design and other topics related to human-robot interaction are welcome.

REGULAR PAPERS

Authors should submit their papers electronically in PDF format via Papercept. In order to guarantee a high quality peer review process, all papers are typically reviewed by three qualified independent reviewers, at least by two, using a single-blind review process. Two types of presentation can be selected:

Oral or Poster Presentations:

Both types of presentations require a full regular paper submission. For the first submission, a manuscript can be of 6-8 pages. For the final submission, a manuscript should be of 6 pages, with 2 additional pages allowed but at an extra charge. Authors can freely propose an oral or poster presentation for their submitted paper. The Program Committee will inform the authors about the type of presentation for accepted papers.

PROPOSALS FOR SPECIAL SESSIONS

The goal of special sessions is to provide a forum for oral presentations that are highly specialized in some particular theme, focused on new topics or innovative applications of established approaches. A special session consists of four to six papers, which, for example, addresses a particular theme or consist of work done in some particular international project. Prospective organizers are invited to submit proposals for special sessions through Papercept.

Proposals are required to contain the following information: title for the proposed special session; one page summary of the special session including its motivation and goals; prospective authors who will be\have been invited to submit papers to be included in the special session; list of organizers (names, affiliations and short bio).

PROPOSALS FOR WORKSHOPS/TUTORIALS

Proposals for half-day or full-day tutorials and workshops should include: statement of objectives, intended audience, list of speakers (to be contacted, invited or confirmed), and list of topics. These proposals should be submitted via the Papercept submission official site for the conference.

INTERACTIVE VIDEO/DEMONSTRATION SESSIONS

Videos (of 1.5 to 3 minutes) and on-site demonstrations illustrating new and exciting results are sought for planned dedicated interactive video/demonstration sessions. Videos/demonstratins should be accompanied by a short paper that should be submitted via the Papercept submission site for the conference.

EXHIBITS AND COMPETITIONS

There will be areas for exhibitions and robotic competitions at the conference. Please visit the specific section on this conference official website and contact the Exhibitions or Competitions Co-Chairs for more information.
