Call: mLearn 2013 (mobile learning conference)

The deadline for submissions for all tracks for mLearn 2013 has been extended to May 1, 2013. Full details of the conference are below.

MLEARN 2013 – CALL FOR PAPERS AND PROPOSALS

October 22-24, 2013 in Doha, Qatar

mLearn 2013 is now open for submissions from academic researchers, developers, professionals, practitioners, and educators from school education, higher education, industry, government, and international organisations.

mLearn 2013 pushes further the paradigm of learning and mobility in converging technological environments. This includes applications of mobile devices in various contexts, but also calls for investigating new educational and technological ways and concepts for supporting formal and informal learning as well as transitions between different types of learning.

mLearn was the first conference on Mobile Learning and is the premiere international conference on learning with mobile technologies and learning across contexts. The conference provides a unique forum for knowledge sharing and transfer for academia, developers, practitioners, industry, government, and organisations. Every year, mLearn attracts a great number of participants from more than 60 countries representing all continents.

Submissions are invited in four categories:

  • mLearning Papers
  • Mobile Learning Practices: Lessons Learned
  • Workshops & Tutorials
  • Doctoral Consortium

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Challenges for mobile learning in the MENA region
  • Challenges for mobile learning in developing countries
  • Mobile learning across cultures
  • Mobile learning in and across formal and informal settings
  • Social empowerment through mobile learning
  • Using mobile technologies for development
  • Ubiquitous and ambient learning and technology
  • Theories, models and ethics for mobile and contextual learning
  • Open and distance education with mobile devices
  • Mobile language learning
  • Interaction design and usability for mobile learning
  • Interoperability and standards for mobile learning
  • Mobile learning strategies in schools, higher institutions, industry, and organizations
  • Adaptive, virtual or collaborative environments for mobile learning
  • Augmented reality for learning
  • Innovative approaches to learning of current and emerging mobile technologies
  • Toys and smart objects for learning

The conference programme will highlight keynote talks, symposia/workshops, plenary sessions, parallel presentations, round tables and debates, special Focus Sessions, poster sessions, technology and product/service demonstrations.
